Millpond House: Background

Millpond House has been a labour of love for the hosts. Helen was born and raised on the Isle of Skye. She left for the mainland after school to pursue a career in the public sector, where she met Doug.
Helen is very much a ‘homebird’ and it was both her and Doug’s dream to maintain their Skye connections. Helen’s father Lachie was a local builder and with much help from her brother Norman, Millpond House was his final project prior to his well earned retirement. The dream was finally turned into a reality and their island retreat was completed in the summer of 2021.
Millpond House is located close to the site of the old Skye Woollen Mill and the small pond which can be seen from the property during the autumn/winter months, when the trees have shed their foliage.
Internally, the property reflects the personal tastes of the hosts and is the perfect island getaway for all seasons.
Summer months can be spent enjoying the outside space, where two decking areas are located at each side of the property to capitalise on day-long sunshine and the views.
During the autumn and winter months, the airy and open plan upstairs living area provides stunning 360 degree views, particularly from the full length picture window of the surrounding mountains, countryside and over Portree Bay to the Isle of Raasay and Ben Tianavaig.
